Success is more than just the scale...

For todays blog I want to touch base on why success is much more than just the number on a scale. Often times when clients come in their goal is to lose weight or gain muscle. Each month we track their weight, body fat, and inches to check in on progress but the thing to think about is this shouldn’t be the only form of measurement for success. Are you feeling better? Sleeping better? Have more energy? If you’ve improved your quality of life then focus on that and staying consistent because the numerical success will come in time, guaranteed!

The thing to keep in mind is that it’s a lot easier to put weight on than it is to take it off. The main thing we need is time and consistency. Consistency in our actives inside and outside of the gym combined over time is the recipe for success. We live in a world of instant gratification where we can go online and order something that will be at our door the next day. Combine that with all the snake oil salesman these days who promise to lose 30lbs in 30 days and so on. These methods aren’t sustainable and clients should look for a more long term approach that touches base on changing lifestyle habits combined with consistent movement.

While it’s no secret we all want to look our best, focusing on how we feel should be first priority. Exercise gives us more energy, helps us with stress, and allows us to do activities we may not be able to do if we lived a more sedentary lifestyle. When we combine movement with good habits outside of the gym there’s not doubt you will start to feel better overall. Make that your main focus starting out when it comes to personal training and let the numerical values come with time.
