Keep steering the train back on the track…
Today we want to touch base on the importance of not striving for perfection but consistency and the importance of just getting back into your routine if you fall off. Often times when people decide to become healthier they think it’s important to be perfect such as never missing a workout, never eating bad food, etc. They focus on the X’s and O’s of when should I eat, how many calories, how many macros, how many times a week should I workout, how many reps, and so on. The main thing which you’ve probably heard us talk about is Consistency and knowing that every now and then we will have a bad day/week/month, you just gotta steer the train back on the track!
Life happens, theres no doubt about that and as much as we try to be routine every now and then we will steer off course. A work trip or vacation, a birthday party, or any other event can get us off track with our nutrition and workouts. The main thing to remember is that’s ok and it is bound to happen but how we respond and bounce back is key to success. We know these thing will arise but you just can’t let them snowball back into bad consistent habits that will derail us all together. When we instill good habits consistently over time it’s less likely for us to steer completely off course when something arises.
No one is perfect when it comes to consistent habits and even us as trainers tend to have a bad day or week here and there. The main thing is to be kind to yourself and the internal conversations you have with yourself. Planning ahead for your workouts and nutrition are you best bet for staying consistent and keeping the train on the track. If we plan our weeks out even if we get off a day or two we still had more success than if we just shot from the hip. So in order to steer the train back onto the track plan ahead, aim for consistency, and be kind to yourself because health and fitness is a long game not short, let’s get it!
