The Importance of a Fitness Community

Todays blog talks about the importance of finding a fitness community to help you reach your goals and sustain them.  Many of us start out strong and are very motivated but over time life slowly creeps back in, we lose steam and find ourselves right back to square one.  I believe in order to truly succeed we must surround ourselves with a support system to which everyone can be held accountable.

The beauty of a fitness community is it can be as small as two people all the way up to as many possible.  Over the years I have had the opportunity to observe multiple situations with clients and have observed what helps set people up for success!  I have trained several couples/friends who together have encouraged each other to a healthy lifestyle.  They are there to push each other, hold each other accountable, and support each other in healthy lifestyle choices.  Unfortunately I have watched people not succeed as well and it usually stemmed from a friend or significant other who was not making the same lifestyle change as them.  I read a quote recently by Hans Hansen that went "People Inspire you, or they Drain you, Pick them Wisely"  This sums it up beautifully, in order to succeed in every aspect of life surround yourself with positive people!

Fitness communities come in all styles, sizes, and locations.  It could be your local bootcamp, yoga studio, crossfit gym, spin studio, or Herbalife fit club.  You have to decide what your goals are and the style of exercise which suits you best.  Once you have mapped these out I would encourage you to explore different options and don't just settle for the first thing that comes along.  Once you become enriched into a fitness community you will have that constant support system around you where people are held accountable and encouraged to make more positive choices.
